Since the beginning of the pandemic, parents have seen a different picture of public education. Educators have endured the extended time of virtual teaching with little to no training.
As we are starting to come out of the pandemic, we are now faced with a looming teacher shortage - one that we've predicted for decades. Teachers feel unappreciated, under paid, overworked. Many are in districts/states that are still requiring them to do more - still expecting them to test students excessively, handle classroom behaviors themselves with little to no administrative support, and having to be the frontline professional to handle student social/emotional needs. This awakening in public education is one of the primary reasons why MSAKC is opening our doors next fall. Students deserve different, educators deserve different and parents deserve different! I found this YouTube video recently - What If We Treated Teachers Like Pro Athletes. Enjoy.....
